There are literally thousands of strength training routines available to choose from.Also known as resistance training, it is a great way of challenging your muscles.In order to get your body looking lean and toned you should perform several short workouts each week. Perhaps the best known toning routines include activities such as press-ups, sit-ups, lunges and squats and yoga. The goal of strength training is to target particular groups of muscles and to repeat movements until a burn or fatigue is felt.You don’t need to do too many repetitions, a maximum of 15 is plenty.You may use toning equipment such as hand weights or leg weights to further improve the effectiveness of your exercise movements.You just need to make sure you start working out gradually.

Lunges
Stand with your feet shoulder width apart and take one large and determined stride forward, bending your knee so that it lies parallel to your thigh and your shin.Lower the bent knee closer to the floorHold for a couple of seconds and then straighten your body. Repeat on with the other leg. Try to build up to 15 reps per leg.

Squats
Slowly bend your knees and lower your body until your thighs are level with the floor. Carefully return to an upright position with a controlled and fluid motion. 10 Reps.

Calf Raises
You need to stand on a low step for this routine. Stand on the edge and slowly lift up through your feet on to your tip toes.This movement creates a long stretch through your calf muscle but does not cause any strain.

Crunches
Lie on the floor with your knees bent and your feet flat.With your arms crossed over your chest slowly begin to raise your body up towards your knees.Slowly lower your body down into the original position. 15 reps.
